Spouse of the President Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová attended on 19th June 2010 meeting of the Board of the Slovak Red Cross in Bratislava. On this occasion First Lady of Slovakia, who is at the same time honorary president of the SRC, was informed not only about actions of SRC branches but also viewed the premises of the organization in Bratislava. Mrs. Gašparovičová visited the training room, which is intended not only for SRC instructors but also for volunteers. As the SRC President Mrs. Kobzová said, "we are proud that our trainers are doing these courses not only for commercial purposes but also for volunteers."

The slovak First Lady supports in a long time activities of the SRC. Also therefore, in February this year she adopted the post of the Honorary President of SRC. "With great interest I´m following in a long time the work of the Slovak Red Cross. I personally support events organized by the Slovak Red Cross and the National Transfusion Service in Slovakia. I highly appreciate all of you who selflessly help others in need. I am very glad that in this position I can get more involved in your work," said the First Lady. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová also communicates with representatives of the Red Cross abroad. For example, during her visit to Strasbourg she met representatives of the French Red Cross.

Slovak Red Cross continues to help and assist people in flooded parts of our country. As Mr. Peter Potocký from SRC regional branch in Michalovce informed, "immediately we were engaged in helping people. We have provided them cleaning means and drinking water. We meet these people, there is much mental suffering. Even when the water will be gone there will be a long trauma of the floods." He added that he would be happy about prepared longer-term aid projects.

The Slovak Red Cross brings together 80,000 members in 2,500 local associations.
