Raise awareness about healthy lifestyle and encourage healthy eating and regular physical activity not only by children but also by parents and teachers. This is in the project "Go Fit" the Slovak Foundation Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody trying to reach in collaboration with the company sanofi-aventis and Zentiva.

In the week of 08/11/2010 until 12/11/2010, the first pupils screening took place also in Bratislava. Children of the 3rd grade were questioned about their body height, weight, blood pressure and heart rate. Even a short test to determine their physical fitness was done at the Primary School Malokarpatské námestie 1 in Bratislava-Lamač, where the students on 12.11.2010 visited the First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. The Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová has been long supporting healthy lifestyle among children and youth. "From the beginning on, as I established my foundation, whose motto is ´Education and Health for Everybody´, I tried to lead children to adopt healthy lifestyle; adults is difficult to change. I look forward to it when I see them here today, when there are measured their values, risk factors, they do physical tests. They are quite enthusiastic and excited are also the teachers. I believe that it catches also the parents." Said the First Lady, who helped in creating this preventive-education project.

An interesting feature of this project is that it thinks in addition to students also at teachers and parents. That also welcomed the headmistress Mrs. Alena Petáková: "What teachers implemented with children, can implement ourselves. For teachers it is really perfect and it is good also for children. Really healthy lifestyle, to spread the fight against obesity and everything in general. It’s amazing that children can have an apple in a beautiful bucket and can eat it during lessons or breaks. We are looking forward to this project," said Mrs. Petáková.

After measuring each student got into his hands its Fit Plan, where he has written down the measured parameters and also basic advice and recommendations to be healthy and fit. Information from individual measurements and anonymous questionnaires will be completed at the end of 2010, then statistically evaluated and the results will be communicated to parents at parents´ meetings in schools.

Project Go Fit is implemented in four elementary schools in Slovakia, two in Hlohovec and two in Bratislava. As Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová said, "we will influence children to gain greater awareness about healthy lifestyle, to eat healthy, do more sport and I think there will be an outcome."
