On the occasion of the feast of St. Nicholas welcomed on 6th December 2010 in the Presidential Palace the Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič and his wife Silvia Gašparovičová children from orphanages. Also this year the tradition wasn´t broken and to the annual meeting with the presidential couple arrived children from three orphanages from every corner of Slovakia – from Trnava, Nižná Kamenica and Istebné.
"For children from orphanages it means very much when they can come to the Presidential Palace. It’s a very important event for them and you can see it on their faces, that they are happy," said at the meeting the First Lady.
Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová warmly welcomed the children in the Presidential Palace and with her husband they remembered their experiences of St. Nicholas. Then with all the children they solemnly lighted the Christmas tree and the whole inside and outside decoration of the Presidential Palace.
Children sang and recited for the presidential couple Christmas songs, poems and carols. Children from Orava even sang a modern song, which text comically and sad irony unnecessary pre-Christmas rush and transformation of Christmas for commercial hunt. Then, together with one voice, dozens of children screamed for St. Nicholas, who entered the Great Hall with a bag full of sweets and gifts.
Endowed children departed also this year from the lightened and festively decorated Presidential Palace with shining eyes and full of unforgettable impressions. Satisfaction of the meeting expressed also President Ivan Gašparovič. "I am very glad that this meeting with St. Nicholas the children will enjoy very much."
Next year on the feast of St. Nicholas the Presidential Palace will visit children from the children´s orphanage in Žitavce, in Trenčín – Zlatovce and the orphanage Lux n. o. in Košice. |
