Presidential couple - Mr. Ivan Gašparovič and Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová visited on 14th-16th March 2010 the Republic of Slovenia. On Monday 15th March 2010 in Ljubljana they were welcomed by the President of Slovenia Danilo Türk and his wife Barbara. During the first day the First Ladies visited spa in Smarješske Toplice which belong to the company Krka. It´s the most modern Slovene health resort.

Official visit to Slovenia

Spa director Mr. Jože Berus informed First Ladies not only about history but also about advanced medical programs offered in this spa. This facility is also known for its cardiovascular and sports injuries rehabilitation. In addition to the presentation of the spa treatment the First Ladies viewed therapeutic and relaxing part of the equipment. After visiting the medical facility, Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová and Mrs. Barbara Türk visited historic castle Otočec ofrom the 13th century. It is interesting that this so-called water castle is located on the river Krka. In 1942 it was set on fire but was rebuilt after the war and is now one of the luxury hotels in Slovenia.

In the afternoon Mrs. Gašparovičová visited in Ljubljana the National University Library, which cooperates with the Slovak National Library in Martin. The second day of the official visit to Slovenia on 16th March 2010 First Lady of Slovakia visited the popular colonnade along the river Ljubljanica. She also visited Prešenerovo square where the statue of the poet France Prešeren and a renaissance church is located. Mrs. Gašparovičová didn´t miss the most visited Dragon Bridge, which is located near the Cathedral of St.. Nicholas.
