Good News´ carol singers from Svätý Jur, Kamenná Poruba and Košice-Ťahanovce visited also this year the slovak presidential couple. They played, sang traditional carols from their regions and gave Mr. Ivan Gašparovič and his wife Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová small gifts.

President Ivan Gašparovič in his speech highly praised spontaneous granting of small and large carollers and nobility of their goal. He congratulated the organizers to the 15th anniversary of the ongoing effort to help poor children in African countries. He recalled that also he went as a boy "to sing carols with my grandmother. But you are somewhere below. We also collected mone or candies, but they remained to us. You are carol singers in the true spirit of carols. In the spirit of the three, who bring happiness and joy. You don´t think about yourself, but about those who are in the world with you, who don´t have everything they need for a joyous and happy life," said our highest representative with the hope that the good news will continue rumor joy.

President Ivan Gašparovič, like every year, also today donated Good News´ carollers a sum of money into the donation box.

Chairman of eRko - Christian Communities Movement Mr. Marian Čaučík said that the carol singers who came to the Presidential Palace "represent more than 26.000 Good News´ carollers that in recent days visited many homes in their parishes, reported the people about the good news of the birth of Jesus and collected money to help people in Africa who live in a much more difficult conditions than we live."

Carollers singing is organized since 15 years by the Movement of Christian Children Communities in collaboration with Catholic parishes and the Pontifical Missionary Works. Last year the carol singers have visited almost 80.000 families in 1.191 towns and villages and gather together with individual gifts € 748 thousand.

Good News follows through specific development projects in Kenya, Uganda, Southern Sudan, Ethiopia to help street children, orphans and women in distress, help provide the basic necessities of life and education of children and adults. Good News is focused on the distress of the country because there isn´t working a scheme of „social insurance and there is nobody who would take care for the poorest of the poor," said Marian Čaučík.
