"Know your risk!" - such is the motto of this year’s World Heart Day which was celebrated in Slovakia on 28th September 2008. First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová warned at a press conference to this important date hold on 16th September 2008, that it is important to ensure own health from an early age. "Through my Foundation Education and Health for Everybody I really try kids to keep a healthy lifestyle, eat healthy, respect the right drinking regime and do more sport. We have to start from children, than it will learn the parents. Recently, children have less and less movement, a lot of time they spent at the computer."

World Heart Day 2008

Numbers of deaths from cardiovascular disease is alarming. Only in Europe each year die more than 4,35 million people from this disease, in the world it is 17,5 million. As Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová said, "it is important that everybody understands that he should be aware of his risk of disease. While a man is healthy, he doesn´t think about a disease. Diseases people often make by themselves - for example by bad nutrition, lack of exercise, smoking or high cholesterol levels." She firmly believes that she can succeed in enforcing stimuli in practice she receives from parents and citizens.

World Heart Day 2008

World Heart Day is organized by the World Heart Federation. The aim of this event is to raise awareness about the threat of heart disease and the importance of a healthy lifestyle for the heart. This year the emphasis lies on the problem of hypertension – high blood pressure.
