In the Park of Culture and Leisure (PKO) in Bratislava on November 20, 2008 were the most successful entrepreneurs in Slovakia for the year 2008 appreciated. At this year’s 9th year of competition, the ten successful women took over the valuation of the National Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises (NADSME) "Businesswoman of Slovakia 2008". Women entrepreneurs were awarded in three categories – Outstanding Entrepreneur, Emerging Entrepreneur and Successful Saleswoman.

Patronage of the event took the Spouse of the slovak President Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. "Any woman who succeeded in a challenging business environment, deserves the title or award. Many women have embarked on such spheres, which previously highly belonged to a man. My admiration to all of Slovak entrepreneurs and I´m glad that Slovak women are not afraid to take what each year brings," said Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, who also noted that business is not easy. "It takes a lot of courage, wisdom, and often you must be able to tackle the big challenges. The more pleasant then the feeling at the finish, when you can lead and reclaim the company, expand its operations and create new jobs." From the hands of the First Lady received the winners in the category "Outstanding Entrepreneur" their awards. Winner of this category has become a businesswoman from Pružina - Mrs. Oľga Apoleníková. The 2nd and 3rd place went to Paulina Köverová and Daniela Kováčová. The best Emerging Entrepreneur of year 2008 is Martina Radošinská from Nové Mesto nad Váhom. Successful Saleswoman of the year 2008 became Iveta Smileková from Detva. Special Jury Prize won Andrea Stuchlíková from Trenčín, who interested the jury in the way how she expands her operations.

The Jury Panel chosed this year´s winners from 60 registered entrepreneurs from all regions of Slovakia. Occupation were mainly traditional crafts, flowers and arrangement services, accommodation and catering, or manufacturing women’s and men’s clothing.
