On 28th March 2011 First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová welcomed at the Presidential Palace children from the Russian Federation that was hit by wildfire last year. "I am very glad that I can welcome you here at the Presidential Palace. Although it isn´t as big as the Kremlin, I hope you will like it here. Together with my husband we visited your country several times. I also visited some of your schools, and also some where Slovak is taught. I have to say, however, that there is interest for the Russian language in Slovakia," said at the beginning of the meeting the First Lady.

Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová is long trying to develop the Slovak-Russian relations. She is the patron of the Slavic Gymasium in Bratislava, which also specializes in teaching Russian. Founder of the school Mrs. Elvíra Chadimová also spoke to students and teachers and presented the work of the bilingual school. "Russian language at our school is taught 14 years. One of the reasons why we have decided to establish such a grammar school, was the love of russian art, culture and the Russian people. I have been teaching Russian language for 25 years. I care about good relations, that our students learn Russian and I am delighted that they go to Moscow on educational exchanges," said Mrs. Chadimová.

On behalf of children and teachers thanked the First lady Mrs. Elena Ilyina. "We are extremely happy that we could visit the Presidential Palace. Thanks for that we can see not only the beautiful Slovak nature, but also for meetings with the good-hearted people who devote much attention to us during our stay in Slovakia. We had beautiful excursions of castles." Children from socially disadvantaged families along with their teachers stay in Slovakia for recreational – therapy visit in the parliamentary facility Častá – Papernička.

Children and teachers prepared for the President of the Slovak Republic a little birthday gift – a matryoshka. "We know that Mr. President celebrated his birthday. We want to wish him good health – we call it the Siberian health and longevity as in the Caucasus."

At the end of the meeting the First Lady wished to the children only the best memories and experiences of Slovakia.
