On 20 - 22 May 2011 at the Spa Island in Piešťany took place the 3rd annual international meeting of craftsmen "Traditional Arts and Crafts", which took place under the patronage of the Slovak First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. The First Lady solemny inaugurated the festival on 21 May 2011: "I took with pleasure the auspice over this meeting of artists in Piešťany. It´s an opportunity not only to recognize and revive our crafts, but also to confront them with other countries."
Aim of the event was to show the public traditional folk arts and crafts and products not only from Slovakia, but also from 8 other countries – Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, Croatia, Cyprus, China and Serbia. Altogether, Piešťany presented over 180 Slovak and foreign folk artisans and producers in regional costumes, as well as domestic and foreign folklore ensembles. There have also been workshops for children, where the smallest visitors could try crafts of grandmothers and grandfathers. As Mayor of Piešťany Remo Cicutto said, "visitors can return a few centuries ago."
The event was also attended by sheltered manufactures for disabled people, in addition to various products of their clients they introduced their daily life in homes of social services through photos or flyers.
