Also this year on 4th January 2011 visited the Presidential Palace more than a 60 members group of Good News carollers. This time the groups of carollers from Valaská Belá, Krompachy and Seňa near Košice were selected. They represented more than 26,000 carollers, who in the Christmas´ and New Year´s days visit homes in their parishes, "proclaim good news about the birth of Jesus to people and collect money to help people in Africa, who live in much more worser conditions than we live," said to the presidential couple eRko Association President and project leader Marián Čaučík. 

Presidential couple endowed Good News carollers

Young carol singers showed their carols and rhymes, songs and verses, through which they are helping needy people in Africa already for the sixteenth year.

According to the words of Marián Čaučík last year carol singers have visited more than 80,000 families in 1,284 towns and villages in Slovakia and collected together with the individual gifts nearly € 885,000.

President Ivan Gašparovič devoted the carollers a donation and thanked them for that they have a rich and well-disposed hearts, goodwill and are ambassadors of Slovakia far from our country. "You walk around and do everything possible to help those who can not help themselves, or those who have no parents, who have nothing to wear," said the head of state.

When the presidential couple took gifts from carollers – an embroidery with a Good News sign, a DVD about the Good News project, bread and cheese, a book of poems written by Monika Kančáková, a small painting and a book about Krompachy, glass from Valaská Belá. Ivan Gašparovič thanked again the carollers for symbolically getting him back into the times when even he as a little boy also went caroling.

ERko President said that despite the economic crisis and its impact on people in Slovakia they were willing to give of their savings more resources to help people living far from them in extreme poverty than in the previous years.
