Health care, autism and support of socially weaker people – these were issues that dominated during the meeting of spouses of the Congress of the United States representatives with the First Lady of Slovakia on 21 February 2012 in Bratislava.

First Lady adopted spouses of the U.S. Congress representatives

First Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová informed the ladies about her activities in the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody. "As a part of the project ´Help for slovak health care – providing of life saving medical instruments´ we purchased, as the first ones in Slovakia, a special additional device to the operation device for liver metastases in the National Cancer Institute in Bratislava. The device can also be used in the initial phase, when metastases are very small," said Silvia Gašparovičová at the meeting.

Mrs. Kate Sedwick appreciated that the help of the First Lady felt also people in Eastern Slovakia, where the First Lady´s Foundation has organized several courses. Foundation´s assistance is also directed to special school facilities: "We support deaf, blind and autistic children. Thanks to sponsors the Foundation was able to purchase interactive whiteboards with some special software," said the First Lady of Slovakia.

Mrs. Samiu Tawil – Burton appreciated very much, that the wife of the President is active in the mentioned areas. As she said, "battered women, autism and health care are important issues. The autism topic resonates very much also in the United States. Still is not an exact answer given why this disease occurs. "
