More than 80 participants of the 11th meeting of the Standing Conference ´Slovak Republic and Slovaks Living Abroad 2012´ on 30 October 2012 welcomed Ivan Gašparovič and his wife Silvia Gašparovičová in the Presidential Palace in Bratislava.

The music and singing group Bells from Serbia showed the Slovak presidential couple a very sensitive artistic composition. Their performance also praised President Ivan Gašparovič. In his speech he showed his joy over the possibility of a meeting with the countrymen community and expressed the wish that „expatriates shouldn´t lose good relationship to their homeland; they should preserve all traditions – cultural, linguistic ones, you may encourage Slovakia and search for a good business environment.“

President of the Office for Slovaks Living Abroad Igor Furdík thanked the presidential couple for inviting compatriots to the Presidential Palace and reminded the correlation with the location of this meeting. "In these facilities ambassadors of the Slovak Republic get their credentials. The Standing Conference´ participants are something like a Slovak goodwill ambassadors." In his speech he particularly appreciated the attention that Ivan Gašparovič and his wife dedicate their compatriots at traveling abroad. "We always look forward to the meeting with our compatriots abroad. It’s always the most beautiful moment," said the First Lady of Slovakia.
