In her speech, the First Lady of Slovakia appreciated the fact that nurses don´t hide their practical experience only for themselves, but they pass it on. "Being a nurse is not only a profession, it´s a mission. You consecrated your life to hard work. Among the awarded nurses are some who pass on their practical experience – not only by personal approach to younger nurses, but also by publishing their knowledge in textbooks and even some of you were at the birth of new university faculty," said Silvia Gašparovičová.

In recent years, according to the First Lady, representatives of nurses had to go through difficult negotiations. "When it seemed that by hard negotiations you have reached your goal, the hard reality came. What you have negotiated and what you deserve, encountered at a lack of funds. Everyone knows that in addition to the moral valuation of the society you deserve an adequate remuneration. I hope that your efforts weren´t useless and therefore I hope that further negotiations will be successful," said the First Lady of Slovakia.

In the category ’Nurse and Midwife – Manager´ took the White Heart from the hands of the First Lady 14 nurses. The First Lady also rendered a special award for lifetime achievement – for contribution to nursing. In memoriam was the award given to a life-long talented nurse Mrs. Alžbeta Hanzlíková, who worked in Martin. The award took her husband Mr. Vladimír Hanzlík.

In 2010 for long-term support of nurses and midwives was the honorary membership in the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives awarded to Mrs. Gašparovičová. Due to the 20th anniversary of the Slovak Chamber of Paramedical Staff and the 10th anniversary of the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives granted the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives on 25 May 2012 a commemorative plaque to the First Lady of Slovakia Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová.

On this special day the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives send an unique message to their ranks and to the public – an anthem, which is an expression of respect for the values of their beautiful profession not only in the past, but also today. The author of the text is Mr. Ľubomír Feldek and Mr. Rudolf Geri.
