On 1st November 2009 the turkish presidential couple arrived to a three-day official visit to Slovakia. On Monday 2nd November 2009 at the First Ladies of Slovakia and Turkey joint talks dominated the themes of education or social activities. Like Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová also Mrs. Hayrünnisa Gül doesn´t forget to help those who need it most. During a visit to the Technical College at Koceľova street in Bratislava was Mrs. Gül informed about training of deaf children at school through an interactive board donored by the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody. "I´m happy to come to this school with Mrs. Gül. It gives me great pleasure always to see these kids, how they can dance while using sign language. Whenever I see the joy of deaf children, so I say to myself I will continue to donor school facilities for these children," said Mrs. Gašparovičová.

A similar project of education has also Mrs. Gül and education is among one of her priorities. "The project ´Education Overcomes All Barriers´ is aimed at families with handicapped children to send them to school. So they can show that they too can actively participate in social life." Another project held under the patronage of the First Lady of Turkey is a festival called ´Talking Books´. "We are pleased that the internet is accessible to everyone, but we realized that children depend on it and forget to read. Our goal is to achieve through this project that they read more," said Mrs. Gül.

Turkish First Lady accompanies her husband on every foreign visit – so it was also in Slovakia. "In each country I visit I try to see similar projects as I have in Turkey. At the same time I try to gain experience that I can use in my country," said Mrs. Gül.
