14th June is the day when in Slovakia and all over the world the World Blood Donors Day is celebrated. The slovak First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, who hold the auspices over this day in Slovakia, thanked the voluntary blood donors for their „gift“. „If we look at the blood drop we think it´s a small thing. Sometimes this small drop decides about our life. It´s great the donoring appeal hear people not only in Bratislava but also in other slovak cities,“ said the First Lady who was also a blood donor in the past. For people who are afraid of donoring blood she says: „You have to overcome your fears and think only at the fact that you help others.“ This year a record number of 542 blood donors in Slovakia was made.

Because of this occasion the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody decided to render the National Blood Service 12 instruction monitors. „I hope with these instruction monitors we can help rise the awareness of importance of blood donoring,“ said the First Lady. Through the monitors in all centres of the National Blood Service in Slovakia donors get information about the process of blood donoring and also about the importance of this fact.
