Global financial and economic crisis, conflict in the Middle East, or population aging. Even for those burning topics were looking for answers this year’s Model European Parliament participants. The culmination of a four-day meeting of students who participated in this project was the meeting with the slovak First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová on 5th October 2009 in the Presidential Palace. "The fact that this project is popular among students you can see at your involvement in this project. You personally could try at least for a few days what means to be a MEP. Part of their work is also participating in the meetings of the European Parliament and meetings of parliamentary committees, and creating laws or various directives that affect the daily lives of more than 500 million EU citizens," said in her speech the First Lady, who took the patronage over this project.

Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová thanked teachers for the work they dedicated to these students. "Very gratifying is your interest in public affairs in this project.
