On 13th March 2007 Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová festively rendered to the I. Internal Clinic of the Teaching Hospital of the Academician L. Dérer in Bratislava an unique medical instrument to eliminating treatment of liver failure.
The medical instrument Prometheus for a liver dialysis with the price almost 2,5 Million SKK donored the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody from a financial gift of the Slovenské elektrárne a.s. This instrument with monitors for an intensive patients monitoring is used at acute liver failure and acute liver insufficiency. „This instrument detoxicates body from ammonia and bile acids. It cleans albumin and gives it back into the blood circulation. It can be used also at intoxication by mushrooms and medicaments, at intoxication, at hepatitis B“, said chief of the clinic Štefan Hrušovský at the press conference.
First Lady of Slovakia was delighted by the fact that the foundation could in cooperation with the company Slovenské elektrárne and the supplier Askin&Co. secure such significant and unique medical instrument for patients in Slovakia. With this instrument one can cover the critical time period of liver failure and win time for preparing the liver transplantation. She also personally thanked the sponsor for the financial help. Today it isn´t easy to win sponsors for buying absent medical instruments – it´s the main mission of the state. „In today´s situation of lack of money in the health care is the support of sponsors unavoidable and really needed. The possibility to save the life of a patient, maybe also of the own life, should be really motivating“, said Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová.
