Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová attended the opening of the second year of the international conference "Searching for a New Europe", organized at the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the European Union. Lecturers, speakers and guests at the conference devoted to the removal of deficiencies in some EU accession countries, but also improving the functionality issues of EU institutions in particular through new approaches, professional and scientific strategy, but also the simplification and unification of legislation and administration. The topic was also the position and the prospect of another active functioning of the Slovak Republic in the EU. The aim was the vision, cooperation, opportunities and overall direction of Slovakia from the perspective of the interaction of three basic spheres – of education, business and political public.

Searching for a New Europe

Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová highly appreciated comprehensiveness, as well as opened and professional approach to such an important topic. It is highly relevant to address the strategy to achieve the desired objective of a dynamic, competitive and evolving European Union towards the developed economies of other clusters worldwide.

Searching for a New Europe

First Lady stressed in particular the educational sphere based on their own knowledge and experience in implementing educational projects from her position as the First Lady and the President of the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody, which supports the education of citizens of all ages, with particular emphasis on disabled and socially disadvantaged.

The Foundation’s project of creation the First Folk Academy in cities with high unemployment rate has already 90 successful graduates of a three-month course with practical training in sheltered workshops; start-up businesses and working people, who couldn´t help themselves due to their handicap. She spoke also about the promotion of international cooperation between high schools and universities, and about other activities and proposals to solve existing problems of education in Slovakia, but also in pan-European context.
