The slovak president Ivan Gašparovič together with his spouse Silvia took over at Saturday December 15, 2007 the Bethlehem-light form the slovak scouts. The light is a flame from the Basilica of Jesus Nativity in the Holy land that stands as a symbol of love, luck and hope. As Mr. Ivan Gašparovič said, hope – that in the world are people who can help others to create a nice and lovelyful feedback. Mr. Ivan Gašparovič, as well as Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová thanked scouts for broading the idea of sharing with people that have nothing, especially during the Christmas time. As the chief of Slovak Scouting Mr. Ľubomír Ondrušek suggested, scouts are bringing a flame of peace and hope for Slovakia for the 18th time. The light will shine in the foyer of the President´s palace till the Day of Adoration of the Magi.

From Sunday, 16th December, will scout patrols over the railway visit 300 slovak cities and villages. Till the Christmas Eve they will overhand this symbolic flame to hundreds of churches, social care houses and asylum houses to bring luck, hope and feeling of solidarity. The slovak scouts ´ve got the light from austrian colleagues at the festive act in Gustav Adolf Church in Vienna together with delegates from tens of scout organizations from Europe, America and Africa. Till the 24th December they will spread the light into more than 20 other countries.
