Silvia Gašparovičová welcomed the U.S. Ambassador to the OECD

Application and addressing gender issues and related issues of political, legislative, economic and social nature of the issue were points of meeting of the Foundation´s President with the ambassadors in the Presidential Palace. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová talked about projects on which she works and which she supports for the benefit of women in society. They also talked about that there is still a lack in legislation and practice in Slovakia on the equal status of women with men in politics, in business leadership positions, in government and the labour market. She named an example of the National Council of Women in Ireland, which as a government´s partner participates in the preparation and approval of laws, decrees and regulations mandatory in the country and expressed the wish to establish a similar range in Slovakia.

Mrs. Morella highly appreciated the work and activities of the First Lady of the Slovak Republic and called it "a role model for women". She focused on particular achievements of the First People’s Academy, which prepares people for employment and entrepreneurship, and of the Crisis Center and comprehensive assistance to victims of violence, especially abused women. Among other things she said: "I give tribute to your activities because you don´t only want, but also you change conditions into better."
