„Though it is a worldwide event, I would like to make a point on mother and child healthcare in our country. We are living in a modern, democratic society with a well developed network of health facilities and a competent system of preventive care and vaccination of children, yet we have to admit that in some regions and certain social groups and communities problems are persisting,”  said Mrs Silvia Gašparovičová in her speech. The President‘s wife stressed the importance of events that draw attention to the situation of children and mobilise the public to pay more attention to children‘s issues and to force their solution. “This is a challenge of the World Health Day and I hope our hearts will be open to support it by our deeds,” she said emphasising the importance of the Day. Mrs Gašparovičová has not only took part at the press conference, she has also undergone a preventive examination in the Health Advice Centre in the Primatial Palace.

The First Lady appreciated the initiative of the Public Health Office to provide advisory service on healthy nutrition in 36 regional offices and on five premises of Tesco company on the World Health Day, thus making a contribution to the worldwide campaign promoting healthy life style and health for all mothers and children.
