On Friday, 2 September 2005, Silvia Gašparovičová greeted the lady participants of the Day of Slovak Businesswomen and Lady Managers, held in Levice by the civil association Top Centre of Businesswomen. The First Lady appreciated the initiative of the organizers to hold this event which, as she said in her address, she perceives not only as an opportunity for businesswomen to present their achievements and challenges, but also as a forum to exchange experience and establish cooperation. She pointed out that women must face many more problems in running business than men because unfortunately they are challenged by some prejudices, and in addition they are also responsible for their families.

"When travelling in Slovakia, I have met a number of successful women who worked their way up to the top of society, who are talked and written about and who contribute to the development of our economy. I believe that some of you will soon find your places in public life, in important political or state positions where the share of women is still very low,” said wife of the Slovak President Silvia Gašparovičová to the present ladies.

One of the topics of this event referred to building international cooperation, which was also proven by the participation of some businesswomen from abroad, e.g. from Austria and Germany. Mrs. Dagmar Steinmetz talked about the World Businesswomen Association whose members come from countries from all around the world. The Slovak Businesswomen Association should become a member of this organization this year. This membership will result in linking Slovakia to the markets of the Association member states, and will also bring some economic contribution to Slovakia.
