At the official state visit to the Republic of Cyprus absolved the slovak First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová also her own short ladies program. With the First Lady of Cyprus Mrs. Papadopulu she exchanged views on the status of women and their place in politics, they visited the Leventis Museum and the interesting immensely rich Archaeological Museum. Pleasant and nice was also the visit to the kindergarten "Mana". It is a kindergarten in the buffer zone in Nicosia for disadvantaged families and it takes up to 180 children. There are currently 110 of them. Mrs. Gašparovičová donored toys to kids and enjoyed paintings and flags painted for her.

A substantial part of the visit, however, was the common program with the President of the Slovak Republic. At the bicommunity meeting with leaders of Greek and Turkish political parties in the Ledra Palace Hotel in the UN buffer zone sounded the identical idea of all present parties about the possible vision of the end of the Cyprus problem and the presidential couple as well as the entire delegation of Slovakia expressed pleasure, the Slovak Republic also contributes to solving this problem by its action in the UN mission and diplomatic initiative.

Mutually gratifying and interesting was the meeting of Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová with members of the Slovak contingent in the so-called buffer zone 4 and the patrol base PB-129. The Slovak mission in the UN-UNFICYP contains 196 soldiers, including 12 women. Women soldiers here take the task force functions and features of the observation posts. First Lady was interested in their work in assisting refugees, the operational contacts with relatives, the psychological characteristics in the worrying environment. Buffer zone is located between the boundaries of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot forces. Inside the lines are 6 villages and only in 1 village – in Pyla – the two ethnic groups live together.

At a joint meeting with troops and soldiers, First Lady expressed her good and pleasant feeling when listening to the praises of Cypriot business leaders about our peacekeeping mission.
