Since 2010 is Mrs. Gašparovičová the honorary president of the Slovak Red Cross. In her speech she praised the activities of the SRC: "Since its existence, this global mass-movement helped and is still helping wherever help is most needed – in the fight against epidemics, calamities of war conflicts. As the RC founder Henry Dunant said, the Red Cross should be a light in the dark, which is lighted wherever there is suffering and pain. The Red Cross light shines also in our country, Slovakia, very clearly. Our society has already got used that the Slovak Red Cross lends a hand in emergency situations. In the most difficult moments human aid and solidarity are rarest," said Silvia Gašparovičová. She also thanked all awarded for the work they perform selflessly for the good of our fellow citizens.
