President Volodymyr Zelensky thanks Slovakia for its support

At the invitation of President Zuzana Caputova, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Slovakia on Friday, 7 July 2023.

He continued his series of visits to countries that support Ukraine. It is his second visit to the Slovak Republic, but the first one since the beginning of the large-scale Russian military aggression in Ukraine.

The official welcoming ceremony in the forecourt of the Presidential Palace was followed by joint talks between the Heads of State. In particular, they discussed the security situation, including the current state of affairs on the front line, as well as further support for Ukraine and its Peace Initiative, Ukraine's proposal for a peaceful solution to ending the war. Other topics discussed included support for Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic ambitions, including in the context of the approaching North Atlantic Alliance summit in Vilnius. However, the further development of bilateral cooperation, including transport links between the two countries and the participation of Slovak companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine, was also a key topic.

"The whole democratic world is helping Ukraine today, but no one has given it such strength as one man, President Zelensky. His determination is an inspiration to many people around the world giving strength to his countrymen who have been resisting Russian aggression for almost 500 days now. He is leading a country that is defending its future and its right to decide it for itself. Welcome to Bratislava, Volodymyr!"

During his visit, the President thanked Slovakia for its support.
