Spouse of the Slovak President Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová welcomed on 20th April 2010 in the Presidential Palace in Bratislava the spouse of the new ambassador of Iceland to Slovakia Mrs. Birgit Nyborg. It happened at the occasion of rendering the credentials to President Ivan Gašparovič from the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland in the Slovak Republic Mr. Stefán Skjaldarson.

Mrs. Gašparovičová welcomed the spouse of the new ambassador of Iceland

Both ladies discussed especially the critical air situation in Europe, which is caused by the activity of a volcano in Iceland. Also several issues about Slovakia and its beauty were discussed due to the fact that for Mrs. Nyborg it was the first visit in Slovakia. Mrs. Gašparovičová informed Mrs. Nyborg about Slovak spas, historical sites and the famous Small Carpathian Wine Route.
