To the voluntary financial and very human event – Daffodil Day – this year contributed also the staff of the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic. Group of the League Against Cancer volunteers welcomed on 15th April 2011 at the premises of the Office of President at the Štefánik Street in Bratislava the Head of the Personal Office Mrs. Otília Sokolová. "We met here after a year again to the 15th anniversary year of the public-interest money collection called Daffodil Day. During the 15 years this project won confidence and respect of the public. We are here to contribute in some way," said at the beginning Mrs. Otília Sokolová.
As she further said, "Mr. President, Mrs. Gašparovičová and the Head of Office Mr. Čič could not come due to the fact that they are carrying out duties associated with the meeting with the President of Italy and are really sorry that they cannot come. But, of course, they participate too in this collection and send financial contributions.“
Each year thousands of people in Slovakia involve themselves to this collection, especially those who are not indifferent to the lives of people who are struggling with severe illness. The yellow flower – daffodil, who is also a symbol of spring, we remember as a symbol of hope, of solidarity and assistance to all who struggle with cancer. |
