President Ivan Gašparovič and his spouse Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová met on 20 May 2011 with representatives of the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives. Also nurses and midwives that have received this year’s White Heart award were present in the audience.
Chamber President Mária Lévyová thanked for the adoption, which they consider as "the highest moral and social evaluation" and as the interest of the Slovak President and his wife on their work. As further pointed out, in their daily work nurses are confronted with suffering, pain, all sorts of diseases and often provide care at the expense of their own needs or even health.
President Ivan Gašparovič has expressed joy that he can meet the chamber representatives and award-winning nurses on the occasion of their anniversary – the International Day of Nurses and handover of the prestigious White Heart award. "I’m glad I can be one of the first who congratulate you," he said. He highly appreciated the nursing profession; nurses are "angels of confidence" for patients and expressed the present ladies his admiration: "I have to say I admire you, dear nurses, that despite all the difficulties you are staying in this profession."
Appreciation for nurses and midwives expressed also the First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, who is from 2010 an honorary member of the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives and supports in a long-term various activities of nurses. |
