On 11 June 2011 in the Sports Hall in Hlohovec was held the final round of the preventive-educational project Go Fit, which in the academic year 2010/2011 was carried out by the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody. Teams of four elementary schools involved into the project – Elementary School Koperníkova 24 and Elementary School Podzámska 35 from Hlohovec, as well as Elementary School Sokolíkova 2 and Elementary School Malokarpatské nám. 1 from Bratislava – measured their forces and prowess in several sports and entertainment disciplines. The winning team from the Elementary School Sokolíkova in Bratislava got from the hands of Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová a cheque of EUR 2.000, - for the reconstruction of school sports facilities and the purchase of sports equipment for their school.
The main aim of the Go Fit has been raising awareness of healthy lifestyle through the active involvement of teachers, parents and children, and motivation of project participants to review own attitudes and behavior in relation to their health. Throughout the school year 2010/2011 was also twice weekly provided delivery of fresh fruit (apples and pears) for children and teachers in schools.
