Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová together with director of the FNsP Bratislava Mr. Richard Raši and representative of the general sponsor Philip Morris Slovakia Mrs. Denisa Prokšová opened on 13th September 2007 the Point of First Contact and Helpline „Pink Telephone“ in the Teaching Hospital at Mickiewiczova-street in Bratislava.
The Point of First Contact was opened as a part of the project „Life without Violence“ – Helpline, Crisis and Education Centre for Abused Women and is run by the civil union Pink Telephone. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová as the president of the Slovak Foundtion of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody thanked the representatives of hospital and general sponsor for their cooperation and help. Such a broad and demanding programme in an urgent area couldn´t be realized without their help.
As Mrs. Gašparovičová said, „...it´s an unusual project due to the fact that the victim of violence has somebody to appeal to, gets a shelter and orientation, as well as courses for coming back to normal life. Our first experience shows the big importance of mental assistance for both sides of violence. In the Crisis Centre we had a woman with her child who solved her momentary marriage crisis due to expert help and possibility of a shelter. The marriage wasn´t divorced, the child didn´t suffer – that´s what all of us want.“
The name of the Helpline – Pink Telephone – was agreed by Mrs. Gašparovičová and the representatives of the italian union Telefono Rosa as a part of their international cooperation. Telefono Rosa sucessfully helps victims of domestic violence in Italy for more than 20 years. |
