Home | First lady | Activities of Silvia Gašparovičová | Year 2008 | Slovak eastern yummies in Budapest
Eastern cakes, cabbage cakes or baked lamb – this all was offered at overloaded tables by the occasion of „Slovenská gazdinka“ (Slovak housewife) in Budapest. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, spouse of the slovak president, traditionally met on 29 March 2008 at the slovak embassy slovak natives from various places of Hungary. After the welcoming song „Daj Boh šťastia tejto zemi“ (God Give Luck to this Land) followed a folk ensemble from Hrušov. Traditional eastern traditions from Slovakia were showed – e. g. eastern water flashing, and some water drops got also the First Lady.
Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová raised out that our landmen abroad still maintain slovak traditions. „I´m happy that you, our landmen, sill keep lively slovak language and traditions you give to your children and grandchildren.“ At the end the best housewife was chosen. Organisers had a hard job – the winner became Mrs. Marika Kováčová from Albertirša. During the discussion the First Lady also informed our landmen about their foundation´s activities.
