We have enjoyed ourselves on a sunny day and rainy evening...
Yes indeed, the weather during the 4th Annual Garden Party 2005, which was held on 4th June 2005 on occasion of International Children’s Day, was quite unsettled. The event was organised by the Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Slovakia and Silvia Gašparovičová Slovak Foundation. However, positive feelings and enjoyment were omnipresent and the organisers have accomplished their aim to organise a marvellous garden party in two parts.
The morning and afternoon were devoted to families and children Even if on that day many other events for children were held in Bratislava, more than 800 visitors and 140 performers came to our sunny morning and afternoon part of the party! The children’s party took five hours during which a programme followed another within the dramatic structure organised like wandering through the continents: Dance show performed by the Group of the Slovak Union of Disabled People Dancing in Wheelchairs, Miguel Mendez Dance Group, Fredy Aisyi & children’s performance of martial art, Oriental Dance Studio Jasmína, Trial bike Show by our World Champion, Street Dance Academy, Jagermeister Dance Group, Children Folklore Group of Vienok , Hackie-Sack Show by the Šándrik Brothers, Puppet show performed by students of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts, Petra Step Dance, Hovnivál Theatre, Real shooting with original figures from Hollywood, Hip-hop School, Show of Police Dogs and Horses Training, Jumping in a Kangaroo Bellow, Musical performance of the Private Slavic Grammar School, DD Bernolákovo Dance Group, Show performed by Miro Miháľ Stilt Theatre of Vranov, Walking on Ostrich Legs, World of Bugaboos, Disco Show... Of course, there were also accompanying events in the party: Workshops and elaboration of various articles which were given to the participating children in memory of the event in cooperation with the following institutions: Welfare House of Kampíno, Welfare House of prof. Matulay, BIBIANA, IOM International Organisation for Migration, Panta Rhei bookstore, University of Music and Dramatic Arts, CREATIVE PROduction... and various competitions in which the children could win sweets, vitamin candies and small surprises...
Unforgettable evening The evening started with heavy rain – like never before at our former garden parties – probably so as to enhance our experiences from the Garden Party 2005. It definitely was not all the same to us, however, we did not have the power to agree with the heavenly sky about good weather all the day long. We were really pleased that more than 500 visitors came; and Mr. President Ivan Gašparovič and his wife Silvia, and other noble guests were among them, too. On the open stage a marvellous dance show performed by our dancers – the smiling Martuška in a wheelchair and the handsome dancer Peter – surprised us just before the official beginning of the evening part of the Garden Party. They did not care about the weather, because in spite of the heavy rain their performance was absolutely excellent and many viewers had tears of emotion in their eyes. The programme was hosted by Lucia Wirthová and Marcela Molnárová – she even sang a few beautiful melodies for us. Other singers cheered us up, too: Trevor James, Marián Greksa; and we had excellent dancers there as well: Miguel Mendez Dance Group and students from the Musical School in Bratislava. During the charity auction we – thanks to our commercial partners – collected 128 thousand Slovak crowns in favour of Silvia Gašparovičová Slovak Foundation and the education project for handicapped people in Slovakia. The proceeds from sale of tickets were given to support the representative activities of the Slovak Sport Union of Disabled People Dancing in Wheelchairs. We together with the First Lady Silvia Gašparovičová gave them a symbolic cheque in the amount of 50 thousand Slovak crowns the day after the party during their own dance event – Ivanka Dvořáčková Memorial 2005.
