On the occasion of the International Nurses' Day the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives also this year appreciated nurses and midwives. On 24 May 2013 was held the 6th annual White Heart award ceremony. The event was also this year held under the auspices of the First Lady of Slovakia Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. The White Heart Award for significant contribution to the field of nursing and midwifery this year took 28 nurses and midwives, among them two men.
In her speech, the First Lady of Slovakia appreciated that the sisters „dedicated your life to hard work and with your amazing empathy and humility you are helping patients to overcome their illness and stay in hospital or at home.“ She believes that despite the unfavorable situation in the Slovak health care system they will receive equitable financial remuneration.
In the category ´Nurse and Midwife – Manager´ took the White Heart Award from the hands of the First Lady 12 nurses. The First Lady also rendered the Special White Heart Award to Mrs. Mária Magdaléna Kurillová for her long-term outstanding activities and contribution in nursing, who almost her entire professional life devoted to nursing care for cancer patients. |
