From 11th till 14th October 2006 Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová attended together with the Slovak President the official visit to the Republic of Singapore. In a separate program she visited the special school Tanglin, which is fully financed by the state and is really at a good level. According to their disability children get education and vocational education to enable them to integrate into the labor market. It is noteworthy that most of them find jobs thanks to the good communication between state, schools and employers.

First Lady visited also a unique botanical garden with the most cultivated species of orchids in the world. The orchids gangway, which bears the names of celebrities from around the world, from this day on will include a newly grown orchid, which bears the name of the Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič that was personally christened by Mrs. Gašparovičová.
