Under the motto "Woman in a managerial role – guarantee of success" was held the 4th year of the Day of Slovak Manageresses and entrepreneurs. This year successful women - entrepreneurs and manageresses – met on 20th September 2008 in the premises of the Hotel Kaskády in Sliač.
Among the entrepreneurs came also the slovak First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. As she stated, „entrepreneurship is not easy, especially for a woman who must reconcile their family life to business. Many were so courageous, they were able to give up permanent employment, which was secure, and change it into a certain risk, which was the set up of their own business. For a woman it is not easy to reconcile family life with career or a business.“ First Lady also highlighted the lack of women in politics and public life. In Slovakia, currently are working in the legislature only 19% of women and 1 woman acts in the Government.
The conference was organized by the civic association TOP Center of Entrepreneurs. Also this time entrepreneurs and manageresses could exchange not only their experience but also gain inspiration how to improve business. According to Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová this association may press for the legislation, its comments could be incorporated into the upcoming laws and amendments of laws. "In the rapid way of making new laws is not always all at once combined well. I am inspired by Ireland, where the Women’s Council of Ireland is a partner to the government. I´m preparing activities in this area by a better work of our business women’s organizations or forming a new organization. I often discuss with others the improvement of legislation."
