Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of the Comenius University in Bratislava (FTVŠ UK) in cooperation with the Slovak Golf Association created a project, which boasts only a few countries in Europe. On 25th March 2011 the Academic Golf Center in the FTVŠ UK premises was opened in the presence of the First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. In the center are three simulators, practice tees, a putting green and changing rooms.
As Mrs. Gašparovičová said, such a center is of great importance because it will teach future golf coaches. As the SKGA president Ľudovít Ujhelyi said, "I would like to cordially thank the First lady of Slovakia for that you were the first one who years ago understood what golf means and that you were at the beginning of golf playing at schools and the Junior Golfers Association of Slovakia." As he also said, golf teaches decency, fairness and humility and it is a tool for pull the family together.
Golf has become not only the second mass sport in the world, but also an olympic sport. Children in primary schools in Slovakia have the option of golf playing in golf circles at schools, at secondary schools and in centers for talented youth. Opportunity to study golf at an university has not been here so far, but from the next week the FTVŠ UK students will be able to choose golf as an elective subject, in next academic years they can study golf coaching at the university. Mrs. Gašparovičová wished the slovak golf that this wonderful sport will be played by more and more people. |
