Home | First lady | Activities of Silvia Gašparovičová | Year 2008 | Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová and Mrs. Jasmina Crvenkovsky viewed rare tapestries
On 11th March 2008 arrived to Slovakia for the first time the Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovsky and his wife. During the official visit had the First Ladies a separate ladies’ program. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová hosted Mrs. Jasmina Crvenkovska in the Golden Room of the Grassalkovich Palace where the two ladies talked about current slovak and macedonian topics – policy, foreign language teaching or slovak and macedonian national dishes. Later, both ladies moved to the Primate’s Palace, where the Macedonian president’s wife could see a piece of the historical center of Bratislava.
In the palace the two ladies could view rare historical tapestry and various oil paintings. Interestingly, these rare tapestries were not woven in Slovakia, but in England in about 1632. To Bratislava they came thanks to a german businessman. Precious carpets were found during the palace reconstruction in one of the chimneys.
