The Military Office of the President of the Slovak Republic, under § 5 (1) of Act No. 321/2002 Coll. on the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic,

a) carries out tasks related to

• the performance of the President’s function of the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of the Slovak Republic
• the command of the Guard of Honour of the President of the Slovak Republic
• the performance of the powers of the President of the Slovak Republic under § 7 (3) of Act No. 321/2002 Coll. on the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic

b) participates in the carrying out of tasks related to the performance of the constitutional powers of the President of the Slovak Republic.

In accordance with § 7 (3) of Act No. 321/2002 Coll. on the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, the President of the Slovak Republic

• gives military orders to the armed forces of the Slovak Republic
• approves and issues the basic military codes of conduct
• approves and issues the organisational rules of the Military Office of the President of the Slovak Republic
• grants honorary or historic names to military units
• grants battle flags to military units and, on the proposal of the Minister of Defence, appoints and removes the chief of the Military Office of the President of the Slovak Republic, who is subordinated and accountable to the President
