Spouse of the slovak President Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová and her husband Mr. Ivan Gašparovič participated on 29 – 31 March 2010 in the official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. They visited two cities - Astana and Almaty (formerly Alma Ata).

Official visit to Kazakhstan

Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová on 30/3/2010 had a joint program with her husband and than she visited the children’s home SOS Kinderdorf in the capital city of Kazakhstan - in Astana. This is a unique type of children’s home in which up to 6-8 children occupies a house together with a governess. It this "family" they learn all the work habits, but they are visiting various primary and secondary schools outside the orphanage. The 6 children of the house No. 7 invited the First Lady to visit them and served a self-made feast for the special guest.

Official visit to Kazakhstan

During the visit in Kazakhstan, Mrs. Gašparovičová had the opportunity to view the landmark buildings from up of Astana – from the Bajterek tower, which is also the symbol of the capital city of Kazakhstan and portrays a mythical tree of happiness and the egg of Samruka - bird of happiness, which he put here.

Together with the President Ivan Gašparovič and the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev Mrs. Gašparovičová viewed the Palace of Peace and Understanding (the so-called pyramid) and the new concert hall. Following the joint survey, the First Lady got familiarized with the Kazakh history and culture in the Presidential Cultural Center.

Official visit to Kazakhstan

Program of the official visit of the Slovak presidential couple on the third day was to visit the city Almaty. After visiting the Central National Museum and the city, Mrs. Gašparovičová and her husband attended the lunch served by the Mayor of Almaty Yesimov. In the afternoon they visited the Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Assumption.

Consequently, H. E. Ivan Gašparovič and his spouse flew to Bishkek, the capital city of the Kyrgyz Republic, the official visit of Kyrgyzstan.
