Spouse of the slovak prezident together with the slovak minister of health Mr. Ivan Valentovič opened the festive evening Nurse of the Year 2007 on 13 February 2008. Mission of this contest is to increase the social status of nurses and morally recognise their irreplaceable work. That is the reason why Mrs. Gašparovičová together with the prime minster Róbert Fico and minister of health Ivan Valentovič took auspice over this event.
The First Lady thanked all nurses and health workers. She raised and priced their hard work. She especially highlighted the work of men, percentage of which isn´t high in this position. „Their care recognise not only women, but also men patients. They can feel into a person, their problems or win their confidence also when help from near relatives don´t come. They don´t have prevalence and I´m happy there are some who decided for this profession.“
Winner in the cathegory Provider of medical care, over which took Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová auspice, became paradoxically a man – the nurse Ivan Žilčík. Mrs. Gašparovičová personally rendered him the price – a silver rose. After closing the ceremony First Lady discussed with the awarded nurses not only their devoted work, but also actual problems in slovak health service. |
