Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová welcomed the spouse of the UN Secretary General

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon together with his spouse Ban Sun-taek visited on 27th January 2008 Slovakia. Their first day in our country was really a hard working one. In the evening they visited the President´s Palace where they had a festive official dinner together with the slovak president Ivan Gašparovič and his spouse Silvia.

On Monday, 28th January 2008, discussed both presidents actual political topics. Their spouses had a separate programme – Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová discussed with Mrs. Ban Sun-taek in the Golden Room of the palace the project Folk Academies for disabled people in Slovakia. Thereafter they visited the Special Primary School for Tender-eyed and Blind Children at Svrčia-street in Bratislava. Children showed their skills: reading and writing – that also against their handicap. Mrs. Ban really liked the school and the education methods.

Mrs. Gašparovičová promised in the past to help this school. „For furnishing 1 classroom is almost the sum of 80.000,- SKK needed, but soon we will buy new school tables.“ She helped this school also last year by buying new school tables in the sum of 70.000,- SKK through her foundation Education and Health for Everybody.
