President Ivan Gašparovič together with his spouse Silvia visited on 29–30 June 2009 the Czech Republic. Traditionally the first visit aboard after president´s inauguration goes to our western neighbours. At the courtyard of Prague´s castle was the slovak presidential couple welcomed by the czech president Václav Klaus and his spouse Livia.
During the ladies programme in Prague visited the First Ladies students of the Jan Dely Conservatory – a high school for tender-eyed children. Director of the school Mrs. Milada Rybářová presented the education possibilities for students, the work of teachers and highlighted success of their students. „Our study programme contains individual instrument education as well as general educative subjects, theory of music and didactics. We organize concerts at our school and also abroad. We are happy of the fact that 80% of our graduates find a job they studyied in,“ said the director. First Ladies appreciated the students´ talent who live a full life with their handicap. Mucis helps them a lot.
On the second day Mr. Ivan Gašparovič with his spouse visited the south moravian city Brno. The slovak presidential couple was in the City Hall welcomed by the City Mayor Mr. Roman Onderka and Marshal of the South Moravian Region Mr. Michal Hašek. „Slovakia and Czech Republic have many connections. They are brother-and-sister-states,“ – said the mayor in his welcome-speech. After a citytour visited the presidential couple the state castle in Lednice, where they met city mayors of Lednice and Valtice. They viewed the castle and surrounding gardens and visited also Valtice. The official visit of the Czech Republic finished president Ivan Gašparovič with his spouse Silvia with a festive lunch given at the occasion of their visit.
