XIX. Slovak Conference of Perioperative Nurses

Transfer of experience and knowledge – also this was one of the aims of the XIX. Slovak Conference of Perioperative Nurses with international participation that took place on June 19, 2009 in Bratislava. The auspices of this conference took the spouse of the slovak President Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. 

In her speech she appreciated the profession of perioperative nurses that is one of the most difficult and liable. „Only a small hesitation of somebody from the operating team – and the life of the patient is at the edge. Each patient goes to the surgery with fear – if everything will be OK, if he or she wakes up or if his or her condition becomes better.“ Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová thinks that each profession needs a lot of knowledge and practice – especially in the field of public health where you work with a patient´s life. „Due to new technology the work of perioperative nurses changes very quickly and there is a big need of continual education,“ said Mrs. Gašparovičová.
