President Ivan Gašparovič and his spouse Silvia Gašparovičová welcomed on 18th January 2010 in the Presidential Palace in Bratislava at the traditional New Year´ meeting representatives of national minorities living in Slovakia. At the meeting participated also the Deputy Prime Minister for Knowledge Society, European Affairs, Human Rights and Minorities Mr. Dušan Čaplovič.

President Ivan Gašparovič declared in his speech his pride on the fact that not only due to Constitution are slovak citizens belonging to national minorities an integral part of civil society in the Slovak Republic.
