On 12 April 2013 President of Slovakia Ivan Gašparovič and his wife Silvia welcomed at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava volunteers of the League Against Cancer – students of the Ján Papánek Gymnasium at Vazovova street in Bratislava and also the Executive Director of the League Against Cancer, Mrs. Eva Kováčová.
President Ivan Gašparovič highly praised the collection: "As President of the Slovak Republic along with my wife I want to thank you for all the Slovak people, who are suffering. It is my pleasure to see, that young people today just do not think about themselves, but how to help those who cannot help themselves." Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová also thanked the volunteers for their solidarity and wished them good luck in collecting financial contributions.
The Presidential couple at the same time financially supported the ongoing 17th year public beneficial financial collection ´Daffodil Day´ and received from the volunteers a yellow daffodil – a flower symbolizing the collection, but also the moral support and solidarity with those who are struggling with cancer. "On behalf of the League Against Cancer and Daffodil Day´ volunteers I would like to thank you for your long-term support. We very much appreciate your acceptance and the fact that you’re a long-term example for the rest of the citizens of Slovakia, that they should help," said the Executive Director of the League Against Cancer, Mrs. Eva Kováčová. |
