Spouse of the slovak President Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová joined the nationwide collection of the Daffodil Day. On 16th April 2010 she welcomed in the Presidential Palace in Bratislava young volunteers from the League Against Cancer – students of the Elementary School Pankúchova 4 in Bratislava and also the Executive Director of the League Against Cancer, Mrs. Eva Kováčová.
For the 14th time this year organizes the League Against Cancer the Daffodil Day. Mrs. Gašparovičová appreciated the collection importance that is more and more successful each year. "The Daffodil Day is very popular within the general public, which I´m very pleased of. We can see that it makes sense, because while the research does not proceed to detect the origin and come to the correct method of treatment of this disease, so there will be not only an increase of the number of diseases, but also people who willt die. It is gratifying that the school children learn about prevention and about diseases such as cancer," said the spouse of the President.
According to the First Lady is the importance of prevention, discussions and cancer awareness very important. Therefore the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová - Education and Health for Everybody tryies with its project "Healthy Lifestyle" to promote and to make children eat more fruits and vegetables. "More times I was at school, where I tried to explain students that it is important to think about what we eat and about what to eat. Than the body will have a strong immune and enough defense against diseases, as well as against cancer," said Mrs. Gašparovičová.
At the end of the meeting she wished the volunteers and the League Against Cancer, that also this year they may collect enough money to help dampen this malicious disease, but also to encourage research in this area. |
