World Blood Donors Day under the auspices of Silvia Gašparovičová

World Blood Donors Day on 14th June 2006 was this year held under the auspices of Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. In the afternoon the First Lady of Slovakia visited the SNP Square in Bratislava, where she welcomed all volunteers who wanted to donate the most precious liquid – blood. She also thanked the organizers of this event, namely the National Transfusion Service of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Red Cross, the World Health Organization for that they often stress the need to donate blood not only at the occasion of World Blood Donors Day, but also at other events. 

"I join their call and I admire those who use today’s opportunity to share the liquid of life with those who will need it. Thank you in advance to all of you for this wonderful act! At the same time I would like to greet from this place all voluntary blood donors in other cities in Slovakia, where such actions are organized today," said Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová.
