First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová baptized on 28th September 2010 in Bratislava´s House of Art the publication ´Famous Villas of Slovakia´. In addition to the presentation of the publication an exhibition of famous villas has been prepared for visitors too. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, who held the patronage over the project, welcomed the fact that readers will be able to find this publication on the Slovak book market. "This work gives us a comprehensive insight into the evolution of architecture in Slovakia from 18th century to the present in terms of building family residences. It is interesting to follow the evolution of historical styles or manuscript of the architects. The book I also welcome because the Slovak architecture in the context of European architecture is yet a little documented territory and enrichment by the english version will no doubt contribute to promoting our homeland and our architects,“ said the First Lady. At the same time she wished the book many readers and authors of texts and pictures she thanked for precision and quality work.
The project Famous Villas of Slovakia was established as a part of the project Famous Villas of Visegrad. Its aim is to describe the famous villas in the V4 countries. The publication presents 64 villas and family settlements, built from 18th century to the present, but also Roman villas of 2nd and 3rd century. It is therefore a cross-section of villas architecture throughout the Slovak Republic.
