First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová took also this year under the auspices of the World Heart Day in Slovakia, which will take place on September 29th, 2013. Purpose of the campaign of World Heart Day 2013, titled "Choose the path for a healthy heart", is the prevention of cardiovascular diseases of women and children.
First lady of Slovakia took part at the press conference dedicated to the World Heart Day on September 19th, 2013. Honorary President of the Slovak League "Heart of Hearts" Mr. Ján Slezák, pointed out bad lifestyle associated with incorrect habits from childhood leading to increase the risk of heart disease. Mrs. Gašparovičová highlighted the need to move from words to action and to apply received information about serious cardiovascular diseases and their prevention in everyday life. In her speech she also indicated that there is only one way to improve the health of citizens in Slovakia - to apply systematic actions in health care, economy and education.
The World Heart Federation has established a tradition of World Heart Day in 2000 to inform people around the world that heart diseases and stroke are the leading cause of death of people and that there is a big need for prevention in this area. |
