Poor and disrepair condition of the building or large heat loss in winter – also these were reasons that led management of the Civil Engineering Faculty to the reconstruction of the Block C outer wall. On 22nd November 2010 by cutting of a ceremonial ribbon it was brought into use by the First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, Rector of the Slovak University of Technology Mr. Vladimír Báleš and the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Mr. Alojz Kopáčik.
At this occasion remembered Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová her studies. "When I studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering during the years 1961 – 1965, we could only dream of such facilities with comprehensive completion of all educational and research facilities under one roof. The slovak education system constantly struggles with lack of funds and therefore I am very pleased that despite this the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology proved the big goal to meet the necessary reconstruction of the building," said the First Lady.
The entire renovation was financed by own resources of the Slovak University of Technology and the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Rector of the university Vladimír Báleš was pleased "that the Faculty of Civil Engineering was the first faculty, which had prepared a comprehensive documentation on the insulation of buildings and the way the economical impact this solution will have. Clothes make a man, and I highly look forward to the next step, which will follow the Faculty of Civil Engineering, that other faculties will be possible to look nicely and conveniently." At the same time he wished the Faculty of Civil Engineering that her beauty will last very long.
To start the reconstruction wasn´t easy, as the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Alojz Kopáčik said. "We had to find a good solution, but still a possible solution, as cheaply as possible. The more I am pleased that we were able to implement and incorporate modern elements into this investment." The new building ´jacket´ has significantly improved thermal properties of transparent and non-transparent parts. At the same time it will provide the opportunity for individual ventilation and sound insulation. |
